Last Minute Do-It-Yourself My Little Pony Costumes

So your daughter has been invited to a costume party but is adamant that she wears a My Little Pony costume. Unfortunately though, you’ve already bought a different costume for her for the party happening in a few days. To make matters worse, she refuses to attend the party unless you can find a My Little Pony costume for her. Luckily for you, you need not look far for everything you need is inside your house.

– Yarn in the color of your child’s favorite pony.
– A dress in the color of your child’s favorite pony.
– An assortment of sheets wherein the colors are your child’s favorite pony’s cutie mark.
– Pencils
– Scissors
– Hair Pins
– Fabric Tape
– 1 9”x12” felt sheet for the pony ears.
– 2 9”x12” felt sheets for the Pegasus wings.

Step 1: The Pony Ears
First thing to do is to cut a piece of the felt you had prepared in the shape of a pentagon. After that, you would need to fold the bottom and then secure them folded as you place them in your daughter’s hair with hair pins.

Step 2: The Pegasus Wings
The wings are pretty simple. You only need to sketch a wing on each felt sheets using a pencil. After that is layering the two sheets and then cut the wings. Use a fabric tape to attach the wings to the back of your daughter’s outfit. Make sure the tape is strong enough to hold the wings in place.

Step 3: The Tail
Use the yarn to make a tail. Start by spinning the yarn around your arm and have our elbows folded at 90 degrees. Then loop them around your thumb until it is thick enough. After that, you cut the yarn, wrapping the loose strings on your thumb and tie it to a knot to form a donut. After that, cut the bottom of the loop and insert a string of yarn through the donut to serve as a belt.

Step 4: The Cutie Mark
To make a cutie mark, us the felt with the right colors and sketch the shapes you will need for every color. After that, cut and then assemble them using fabric tape. You can place the cutie mark anywhere in your daughter’s outfit.
